What is there to do in the area?
Our hamlet “Elsen” is located in the beautiful countryside between Markelo and Rijssen in the municipality of Hof van Twente.
– Within walking distance of the yard are the Friezenberg and the Apenberg, part of the large nature reserve “The Borkeld”.
– Numerous bicycle routes can be ridden from the yard.
– Within a distance of 15 kilometers are three golf courses (Wierden, Delden and Lochem).
– Several interesting museums and fairs nearby.
– Several (castle) estates within a distance of 15 kilometers that can be visited during the summer season, including:
– Twickel estate (gardens and castle).
– Weldam Castle (gardens and fair)
– Huis Verwolde (gardens and castle)
– Huize Warmelo (gardens and fair)
– In Markelo there are 3 riding stables where horses can be rented; the area lends itself perfectly to beautiful outdoor rides
